Here's a window into my professional background:
I fell in love with development and fundraising in 2017 when I learned it blended the 4 things I enjoy most 🤓: research, neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and marketing. Humor me, as I give you a few examples...
- Direct response fundraising is NOT a soft science. It's backed by decades of research and continues to evolve as we learn more. (Think: envelope hot spots, A/B split testing, lift notes)
- Donor cultivation and stewardship are the backbone of any successful development program. It involves creating intimate relationships at scale. Donor love is an art and science.
- Donor acquisition is (usually) overhyped and executed poorly. You have little to no margin for error when you're a small NGO looking for new donors. You need science, testing, and a seasoned expert (me!) to guide you in this area.
I currently serve as the Director of Development at Gull Lake Ministries. Over the past seven years, I’ve filled a variety of development roles — so I know what it feels like to be in the trenches! 🥰 Within my first 12 months at Gull Lake Ministries, I tripled the organization’s annual fundraising revenue. During my tenure, I’ve increased annual recurring revenue (ARR) by 676%, focusing solely on donor retention and strategic cultivation.
I have a professional background in nursing 🩺, with a BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University. I graduated summa cum laude in 2016 and obtained my RN license in Michigan. I am passionate about health optimization and wellness, and I continue to invest in courses and mentorships in the functional health and wellness space. I practice regular cold immersion and swim in the lake daily... even in the Michigan winters ❄️🧊!
