Donor retention is more PROFITABLE than acquisition. 💎💎💎
Sorry to burst your bubble. 🫧
Unless you've focused on cultivation at EVERY giving level, I guarantee you... You have an untapped donor base. I like to tell my clients: you don't need new major donors. You've got SLEEPERS in your file! 😰
If you're wringing your hands, feeling like you need to find new donors, I need you to ask yourself 3 things:
1️⃣ Do we have effective systems in place for upgrading our donors? You can look at this at an individual donor level. You should also look for trends. E.g. Is your major donor file shrinking or growing?
2️⃣ What is your retention rate? Higher isn't always better. If it's in the 90s, this is NOT good. This means you are going to shrink to death.
3️⃣ Do you have systems in place for lead capture? And once you get someone's address, email, and phone... What do you do next? You DO need cultivation sequences set up across all channels with a focus on vertical integration.
Tim Kachuriak wrote a brilliant article about this for Forbes. 😍 https://lnkd.in/gDqacR-K
Vertical integration differs from horizontal integration in that it leverages the unique advantages of each channel. This allows you to meet someone exactly where they're at and better steward them along the journey. If you wanna vibe with me on Feb 29, here is the link!
We will chat about the same topic, but its gonna be better! 🥰 https://lnkd.in/g9Tf5CcQ
